Main activities and responsibilities:
From October 2009 to December 2011, Dr González-Longatt is part of the project “Real-time Frequency-based Corrective Control of
Future Networks – FreCon”, (EPRSC Project EP/G055211/1). Its aim is creates a wide-area intelligent system, that empowers the
future power grids by providing critical and extensive synchronised information in real-time, assessing system vulnerability quickly,
and performing timely corrective control actions based on system-wide considerations. Dr González-Longatt is responsible for the
design of a new closed-loop coordinated corrective control scheme, which can be applied to eliminating frequency instabilities,
cascading outages and catastrophic blackouts in networks.
From to January 2009 to October 2009, Dr González-Longatt was part of the large-scale Integrated Project co-founded by the
European Commission under the 7th Framework Programme in the energy area called ADDRESS. "Development of Interactive
Distribution Energy Networks". Research interests related to both projects include:
­- Investigate the potential and the requirements of active demand from the consumers’ and the electricity retailers’ perspectives.
­- Development of the emerging demand aggregation business whose role will be to gather, coordinate and offer the flexibilities of
consumers to the grid and electricity markets.
­- Development of a number of relevant scenarios representatives of the diversity of the possible evolutions of the European electricity
industry and its consumers.
