ADVANCED TRAINING ON MODELLING AND SIMULATION OF
WIND ENERGY CONVERSION SYSTEM HAS BEEN HELD IN
CODELECTRA (VENEZUELAN COMMITTEE OF
ELECTRICITY)-CARACAS, VENEZUELA
9th
October 2010, Caracas, Venezuela
On Friday October 9, 2010, the Advanced
Training on modelling and simulation of WECS has
been held at the headquarters of
CODELECTRA.
This high level course was lectured by Dr
Francisco M. González-Longatt, he is an Research
Associate at The University of Manchester, United
Kingdom and Vice-President of the
Venezuelan
Association of Wind Energy (Aveol).

Twenty-three participants were taught for eight
hours an deep introduction to the theoretical
aspects regarding the modelling and simulation of
wind turbines, the main commercially available
technologies was described completely.
Subsets of elements was modelling one by one and the
full model was developed, Furthermore, all the
theoretical knowledge has been complemented with
real experiences of Dr Gonzalez-Longatt, these wind
turbines models were integrated into the electric
power system, and the results have been discussed.
The simulations have been performed using the
famous, powerful, and amazing software for power
system simulation: DIgSILENT ® and results obtained
from MATLAB ® and Simulink have been compared with
DIgSILENT.
